Here is the top (table) of the violin:

The top is rough-arched with the gouge:

Here's the channel for the purfling:

The "groove" is cut around the edge after purfling:

Then the final arching of the outside of the top is completed:
Then I hollowed the inside of the top. First, I drilled to the approximate thickness required:
Then gouge, plane, and scraper hollow out the inside of the top:
After hollowing and scraping, the soundholes are cut. First, marking them on the top:
Then drilled at the ends (for easier chip removal) and the first hole is cut with a knife:
Then the second is cut:
Then comes fitting of the bass bar. Rough fit of the bass bar:
It is then chalked and fit essentially exactly to the inside surface of the top, then glued in place:
Then, the bar is carved into its proper shape and size:
Now, the top is essentially complete and we will move to the page which covers assembly of the body.
