We had a lovely visit in June and July 2008 for 3 weeks.

 

Friends we saw:  Tim, Kevin and Anna, Ben, Gaye, and Cara,

Eric and Allison, Jeanne and Steve, Anne, Deb and Gary.  And

we met neighbors Martin Susser, Roger Gadway, and Thomas Nicolai.

 

Hikes we took:  Allen Oaks, "The Peninsula," around the property,

Tamanawas Falls, Mt. Defiance (back way), Ponytail Falls, Horsetail falls,

Lookout Mountain, Wahlclella Falls, Nestor Peak

 

Other fun activities:  Hood River Pool, Cannon Beach and Cranky Sue's,

Los Reyes restaurant, New York Sub Shop, Gorge Vista House,

Husum Falls, The Gorge Center (The Dalles), Multnomah Falls,

The Bonneville fish hatchery and sturgeon center

 

Animals we saw on our place:  wild turkeys, a herd of 5 mule deer,

lazuli buntings, red tail hawks, peregrine falcon

 

Projects/improvements we accomplished:

Got a nice new reading chair for Jim

Cleared more stuff out of the barn

Replaced the toilets with nice, new ones

Installed ceiling fans in the two back bedrooms

Disassembled and got rid of remaining farm equipment

Cut up (acetylene torch!) the old tow bars and got rid of them

Put new benches on the front porch

New stereo (old one was belly up)

Got two nice new enameled cast iron pots

Put up a new clothes line
